Leader of The Year: Scott Parker

Emerge

Leader of the Year: Scott Parker

What an exciting year 2021 has been! We saw our full team return to our Scottsdale office, doubled our headcount and saw our Director of Operations, Scott Parker, grow into an amazing coach, mentor and leader. Most recently, Scott was named our 2021 Leader of the Year!

We sat down with Scott to discuss everything Emerge, from where he started to where he’s going. Learn more about Scott below:

Q: How long have you been with Emerge? What position did you start in, and where have you moved since?

A: I started at the end of September 2020 as the West Coast Carrier Sales Manager. I moved over to lead the new Contract Marketplace team at the start of 2021 and started as the Director of Operations in April.

Q: What does a typical day look like in your role as Director of Operations?

A: A typical day can be very wide-ranging. I think the spontaneity of an operations floor keeps you on your toes and keeps it fun. Day-to-day, it’s our job to transform customer and client experiences, and that takes on many forms, roles, and responsibilities.

Q: What’s your favorite part of the job?

A: I think the best part of the job is watching our team grow and seeing the new opportunities we provide for our employees. Whether it is career advancement with new management and leadership responsibilities, or someone learning a new industry and excelling at it, there is a lot of personal growth within our organization.

Q: What do you like most about Emerge?

A: What I like the most about Emerge is the opportunity to do something new in a very old industry. We are attempting to truly utilize technology to create relationships and partnerships across the industry in a way that has not been done before. It’s exciting to try to figure out that puzzle!

Q: What advice do you have for people looking to be successful at Emerge?

A: Work hard and be willing to take on the next task or next assignment, whatever it may be. There is always something that can be done here to improve our business, and sometimes the roles and responsibilities presented aren’t what you first had in mind. We’re all pushing to the same goal, so if a job needs to be done, be the one willing to get it done.

Q: What are you looking forward to in 2022?

A: In 2022, I am looking forward to the continued growth trajectory we have been on. It was exciting in 2021, but we are just getting this ship in the air.

Q: Any other thoughts, inspiration or advice you would like to share?

A: It’s important to remember the big picture at Emerge and what we are trying to accomplish. There is no blueprint for this, so there might be more pivots or changes than you were used to.  You need to see that as part of the fun. We still have a lot to build here and everyone who is on board gets the opportunity to put their name on it.

Emerge’s Leader of the Year was based on anonymous voting from the entire Emerge team. Congratulations to our Leader of the Year, Scott Parker!
